CHEVROLET PULLEY/BELT PLACEMENT

DIAGRAMS SHOWN ARE FOR SMALL AND BIG BLOCK ENGINES
WITH SHORT STYLE WATER PUMPS ONLY
ALTERNATOR, A/C COMPRESSOR
AND POWER STEERING PUMP
Engines running an alternator, A/C compressor and power steering pump normally use a double groove water pump pulley and a triple groove crankshaft pulley. Three fan belts are needed. The #1 belt connects the alternator, water pump and crankshaft pulley. The #2 belt connects the A/C compressor, water pump and crankshaft pulley, while the #3 belt connects the crankshaft and power steering pulley.
ALTERNATOR AND A/C COMPRESSOR
Engines running an alternator and A/C compressor will require a double groove water pump pulley and a double groove crank shaft pu Iley. Two f an belts are needed. The # 1 belt connects the alternator, water pump and crankshaft pulley. The #2 belt connects the A/C compressor, water pump and crankshaft pulley.
ALTERNATOR AND POWER STEERING PUMP
Engines running an alternator and power steering pump will use a single groove water pump pulley and a double groove crank shaft pulley. Two fan belts are needed. The #1 belt connects the alternator, water pump and crankshaft pulley, while the #2 belt connects the power steering and crankshaft pulley. The alterna tor may be mounted on the driver side or passenger side of the engine. NOTE: The back groove on a double groove stock steel power steering pulley or a back spaced aluminum power steer ing pulley must be used.
ALTERNATOR ONLY
Engines running an alternator only will require a single groove water pump pulley and a single groove crankshaft pulley. A single fan belt is needed which connects all three pulleys. The alternatormaybe mounted on eitherthe driver side or passenger side of the engine.
